Decades of Experience

Empress Carpet got its start when Lou Hamer purchased the company in 1978, leaving $5 in his family's bank account. After 7 years of working part-time at Expressway Carpet on nights & weekends, he decided it was time to leave his day job as an engineer & take a risk. A few years later in 1981, his 14 year old son Duke joined the business, cutting carpet on the weekends and during school breaks. Now, over 40 years later, 3 generations make Empress Carpet the best in the business.

We purchased a remnant carpet for our daughter's room 2 years ago. The staff at Empress was extremely warm, accommodating & knowledgeable. They edged the carpet and delivered it as promised. As for Duke as he was extremely helpful.

On Thursday December 28, 2017 around noon, we returned to Empress Carpet Sales to purchase our 2nd rug. Duke not only remembered us as prior customers, he & his staff were once again knowledgeable & friendly.

Overall, our experience with the Empress Carpet Sales was positive. We were in & out within 30 minutes. Empress has a great selection of remnant carpets which can be edged as rugs. We have no complaints about Empress, and will return for all of our carpet needs. - John A
